To partner with REFOOD is to embrace and partake in its social and environmental responsibility, empowering local citizens to change the world in their own community.
We work with our Partners seeking to understand their objective as we believe that each one has the ability to contribute in their own way. Our task is to find out together how we can each contribute and work together as a team so that our common goals are achieved.
Food Source Partners are the first partners in the REFOOD value chain that transforms food waste into nutrition.
Restaurants, cafes, cafeterias, supermarkets, distributors, farmers’ markets, agricultural cooperatives and farmers. All are valuable food sourcing partners for the REFOOD Movement.
Their good will and the good work they do empower REFOOD to put an end to food waste and feed those who need it – we are all in this together!
These are partners who don’t necessarily have excess food to donate but understand their social and environmental responsibility and want to contribute to the well-being of their community.
Refood’s mission is to include the entire community and all are invited to participate, be they citizens (volunteers), institutions (public and/or private) – especially companies (large, medium and small) who seek to activate their own sustainable and solidary objectives and to involve their collaborators in our work.
Who gets involved …
- Refood’s landlords include the Portuguese Government, many City and local Governments, The Portuguese Navy, many Churches, Religious orders, Charities, Associations, Businesses, and even private citizens – every community has a space for the Refood Movement!
- Other partners join in to remodel and upgrade the donated workspace, provide refrigeration equipment, industrial dishwashing equipment, stainless steel tables, shelving, vehicles, packaging and consumables – there is room for all willing partners!
- Others provide support on the national level offering office, warehouse and events spaces, communication, insurance services, professional services (legal, accounting, auditing, etc.)
Operational partners are essential partners and work hand in hand with REFOOD volunteers to make their community and the world a better place.

Those who recognize the potential that the RefoodMovement and the Refood model have to drive real change in local communities and who want to contribute by building our capacity – to scale-up and empower communities worldwide.
